Training and college life
Naturally, the training schedule is specific to each university and each coach. In general, there are 5 training sessions a week for 2 or 3 hours a day. Training on course, practice but also outside with physical preparation sessions in the gym or on the track. As coaches are often paid according to the results of their teams, the training is of very good quality and you will get a level never reached throughout your university course.
Generally, training begins with your academic year in August (Fall). The final rounds of the NCAA (I, II or III) and NAIA championships are held in May.
Although in your country golf may be an individual sport, in the US, it is truly a team effort. You will train and compete alongside a big group of teammates, and truly feel a part of a big family. The life of a student-athlete is not only training and studying, you will be part of a team and you will participate in many activities with them, creating bonds which will last forever.
